We scored this project 8 out of 10 for complexity, and there are a few reasons behind this estimation. We were working with legacy systems while building revenue systems that had to work perfectly from day one. The combination of unknown codebase, multiple integrations, and high-stakes performance requirements made this one of our most challenging projects. We’re proud of what we achieved – bringing a gaming legend back to life.
Legendary gaming media revival
In 2017, Game Informer was the fifth-most popular video game magazine. In 2024, it disappeared from the landscape. Was the 368th issue “game over”? Not quite. In 2025, AnyforSoft delivered the technical foundation for one of the industry’s most ambitious media reboots.

2025Building revenue from legacy foundations
The revival mission was enormous. It was like bringing Master Chief, gaming’s most iconic super-soldier, back from cryo-sleep and preparing him for the biggest fight of his life.
This challenge had two distinct sides: revenue demands and technical reconstruction.
- Revenue generation under pressure. Game Informer needed to start generating income immediately for the new owner while rebuilding its subscriber base from zero.
- Technical reconstruction from the inherited codebase. AnyforSoft worked with the existing codebase and partial database with no user data. It required complete platform reconstruction and complex system integrations from scratch.
Any misstep could damage a 28-year reputation built on trusted game reviews and industry coverage.

Revenue streams activated
AnyforSoft addressed both challenge sides simultaneously. Business viability drove technical decisions.
- E-commerce foundation development. Digital subscriptions and print magazine sales worked with flexible billing options. Stripe integration made payment processing possible immediately, while MailerLite enabled subscriber communications.
- Enhanced user experience. Flipbook service supported seamless online magazine viewing for subscribers.
- Content monetization systems. Paywall functionality protects premium content while subscription management enables immediate revenue generation.
All systems were integrated through comprehensive back-end reconstruction, creating a complete commercial ecosystem designed for sustainable monetization and business success.

Wins on the board
Level one accomplished. The dual-sided challenge was met with measurable business impact:
- Subscriber milestone reached. Starting from zero at relaunch, Game Informer now has 26,000 subscribers. The new milestone is to reach 30,000 by year’s end.
- Market positioning achieved. What makes Game Informer unique among gaming publications? The ability to serve both nostalgic print readers and modern digital audiences through integrated magazine formats.
- Technical performance delivered. When 5 million visitors hit the website at restart, the infrastructure held strong. This proved the system could handle major traffic spikes without breaking.
The collaboration continues to evolve. AnyforSoft’s team remains actively engaged, developing new website features focused on enhancing user experience and driving revenue growth for Game Informer’s ongoing success.

Dynamic collaboration approach
Responsiveness was key in collaboration with Game Informer. This approach is essential when working with media whose audience is highly involved and operates in an extremely dynamic industry.
- 24-hour feature delivery. When Game Informer needed promotional discount functionality for their end-of-summer campaign, the team implemented complete promo code systems within 24 hours.
- Real-time problem solving. The team quickly added pop-up windows to the homepage and integrated new features as business needs emerged during the relaunch phase.
- Adaptive development approach. When initial deployments revealed stability issues, the team immediately pivoted to focus on load balancing and performance optimization phases.
The collaboration built momentum through constant adaptation. Each gear shift and pivot point energized the team, proving that dynamic projects bring out everyone’s best work.
